Another Loss in the Mount Zion Family: Actor Oyeyemi Passes Away

The Christian movie world is in grief after the death of actor Oluwasegun Oyeyemi. He was well known for his role as Flora’s husband in the popular Mount Zion film series, Abattoir.

The Bowen University Alumni Association shared the news on Instagram on Tuesday. They did not reveal how he died but remembered him as a beloved alumnus and drama minister who touched many lives.

“It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing and burial of one of our esteemed alumni, Mr. Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi, Gomobzzzz, a proud member of the Viable Set and BBSF Drama Unit, who recently went to be with the Lord,” the statement said.

They also called on everyone to support Oyeyemi’s family. “As the Bowen University Alumni Association, we humbly request that all alumni remember the family he left behind in their prayers, asking God to grant them strength, comfort, and peace during this difficult time.

“We also encourage all alumni residing in Ibadan and its environs to be present at the burial as we come together to pay our final respects to our dear colleague and friend. Our prayer is that the Almighty God will console his family and loved ones, and grant Mr. Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi eternal rest. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.”

According to the burial poster, there will be a Service of Songs in Ibadan on Thursday, July 2. His burial will take place on Friday, July 3, at the Garden of Saints Cemetery. Mourners have been asked to wear white attire.

Besides his notable role in Abattoir, Oyeyemi acted in many other Mount Zion Faith Ministries productions. These include Fiwajomi, Seyifunmi, Olukoya, and Finding Grace. He became well-known among Christian movie fans for playing characters of faith and using drama to spread the gospel.

His passing has also sparked talks about the series of losses the Abattoir family has faced in recent years.

In February 2025, actress Toluwalope Adegboyega-Alagbe, who played Flora, Oyeyemi’s wife in Abattoir, died from injuries she got in a road accident on December 26, 2024. The accident also took the life of one of her two-year-old twin daughters.

After her death, many in the Christian film community paid tribute, including Mount Zion founder, Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, and filmmaker Joshua Mike-Bamiloye. They both expressed deep sorrow over her passing, which they felt was a significant loss to the ministry and the gospel film industry.

Oyeyemi’s death comes after the loss of another cast member from Abattoir, Moses Korede Are, known as Baba Gbenro, who died in 2024.

With this latest news, three actors from the popular gospel series have died in the last two years. This has left colleagues, fans, and members of the Christian film industry mourning yet another loss.
