The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has promised to mobilise voters for President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The state APC chairman, Abubakar Bawa, made this promise on Saturday in Jalingo during the launch of the Taraba chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement. This is a grassroots campaign group that supports Mr Tinubu’s re-election.
This announcement comes as different political groups are backing Mr Tinubu. One of them is the Rainbow Coalition led by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Mr Wike stated that the coalition is mainly focused on gathering support for Mr Tinubu’s re-election. He also mentioned that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is free to field candidates for governorship, National Assembly, and State House of Assembly elections.
Mr Bawa expressed confidence in the APC's chances in Taraba. He said the party would use its structures to win elections at all levels in 2027.
He added that the grassroots campaign would spread the party’s message to homes and communities across the state. The group plans to connect with residents through door-to-door visits and outreach in churches, mosques, and local government areas.
Danladi Baido, the Director-General of the Tinubu-Shettima campaign in Taraba, also spoke at the event. He said the APC would build on its efforts from the 2023 presidential election.
Mr Baido believes the party will gather significant support for Mr Tinubu in the state in 2027.
Government Ekpemupolo, popularly called Tompolo, is the founder and convener of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement. He called on Taraba residents to support Mr Tinubu for another term.
Mr Ekpemupolo stated that the reforms from the administration need time to show results. He argued that continuity is important to strengthen the policies in place.
He linked Mr Tinubu’s re-election to the development plans of Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas. He said another term for the president would help the governor continue his work.
Governor Kefas, who supports the mobilization effort, said residents of Taraba are already feeling the impact of the Tinubu administration through federal projects and initiatives in the state.
“We are moving forward with the mandate of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President,” the governor stated.
He assured everyone that his administration will keep executing and launching development projects across the state.
Adekanbi Asuku, the national coordinator of the movement, said they are in Taraba to gather support for Mr Tinubu and Mr Kefas.
Mr Asuku urged members to take the campaign to homes, religious centres, wards, and local government areas as the 2027 elections approach.
He also credited improved security in Taraba to the work of APC-led administrations and urged continued support for the party.
