World champions Argentina have kept their spot as the top team in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday. This strengthens their position as the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches.

The Albiceleste are still at the top of world football after winning important matches recently. Spain and France are in second and third places respectively.

Spain held onto second place after a win and a draw in their last games. France dropped to third after losing one match but bounced back with some wins.

England and Portugal round out the top five, with Brazil sitting in sixth place.

Nigeria stayed in 26th place in the global rankings after a mix of results in their recent matches. The Super Eagles did well at the Unity Cup in London, winning against Zimbabwe and Jamaica.

But the three-time African champions faced challenges after that. They were held to a 2-2 draw by Poland and later lost 2-1 to Portugal in a friendly match.

Morocco is the highest-ranked African country, sitting in seventh place in the world and continuing its strong performance globally.

These latest rankings come as everyone looks forward to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The tournament will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. For the first time, it will feature 48 teams, making it the largest tournament in FIFA history.
