Troops of the Nigerian Army, working with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, have arrested three men suspected of supplying drugs to terrorists and other criminal groups in Katsina State.

The suspects were caught during a joint operation on Tuesday at around 5:15 p.m. in Kagara village, Kafur Local Government Area, according to security sources.

The operation included personnel from the Forward Operating Base, Malumfashi, and officers from the NDLEA Area Command, Malumfashi. They acted based on intelligence about suspected drug distribution points in the area.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared on X that the operation aimed to cut off the supply of drugs and other intoxicants to criminals in the region.

The suspects are Mohammed Lawan, age 34, Muhawiya Haruna, age 40, and Junadata Usman, age 40.

During the operation, security forces seized items believed to be cannabis sativa, tramadol capsules, pregabalin, diazepam, Extol-5 tablets, rubber solution, and a locally known intoxicant called “Suck and Die” spirit.

Makama quoted security sources, saying, “The sources said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were allegedly involved in supplying hard drugs and other intoxicating substances to terrorists and criminal elements operating within Kafur and neighbouring communities.”

According to the post, initial investigations suggest that these suspects supplied hard drugs and other intoxicating substances to terrorists and criminals in Kafur and nearby areas.

The suspects, along with the seized items, have been handed over to the NDLEA Area Command in Malumfashi for more investigation and possible prosecution.

This operation is part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to break down the supply chains that help terrorism, banditry, and other organized crimes in Katsina State.
