Arsenal came from behind to beat Leeds United 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Bruno Guimaraes scored the winning goal for Arsenal in the second half.
Leeds took the lead in the 56th minute. James Justin found the net first for the visitors. But Arsenal quickly equalised five minutes later through Riccardo Calafiori.
Guimaraes, who came on as a substitute, scored the winning goal in the 69th minute. This goal completed Arsenal's comeback against Leeds.
A match report on Arsenal’s official website said Leeds had chances in the first half. Goalkeeper David Raya made crucial saves to keep Arsenal level at halftime.
Arsenal created a chance soon after the break. Noni Madueke assisted Martin Odegaard, but his low shot was saved by Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford.
Leeds then took the lead. Gabriel Gudmundsson raced down the left and delivered a low cross. Justin scored with a first-time shot despite Gabriel’s attempt to block it on the line.
Arsenal responded quickly. Madueke sent a ball into the box. Ben White headed it across for Calafiori, who shot and scored past Trafford.
Mikel Arteta then brought on Guimaraes, Viktor Gyokeres, and Jurrien Timber. Guimaraes made his mark after a nice passing move with Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and Declan Rice.
Rice’s backheel found Guimaraes at the edge of the area. The substitute placed his shot into the bottom corner, putting Arsenal ahead.
Arsenal had more chances to score again. But Trafford stopped Saka in a one-on-one situation in the dying moments of the game.
This win means Arsenal now has five victories from their first six matches in the Premier League. Arsenal will face Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday, then travel to Nottingham Forest the following Sunday.
