The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar, has started a platform where Nigerians can ask him questions about his political history, policy ideas, and plans for the country.
The platform, called Ask AA, will go live at 8:30 pm on Thursday. This was shared in a statement by Phrank Shaibu, the Director of Strategic Communication for the ADC Presidential Campaign Council.
According to the statement, Nigerians can submit questions on various topics like the economy, security, technology, job creation, and how to make life easier for everyone.
Atiku will personally answer questions submitted through the platform. His media team will also help provide answers.
The initiative aims to close the information gap between voters and the former Vice-President. It gives a direct way for citizens to learn about his views and policy ideas.
Shaibu said this platform will help Atiku connect better with Nigerians through direct engagement.
"The objective of this initiative is to bring Atiku Abubakar closer to the electorate through a practical, problem-solving platform," he said.
He also mentioned that they plan to add a radio feature. This will help communities without internet access to join in.
Atiku shared the news on his social media accounts. He said he came up with the idea because he believes that leaders should talk directly with the people they serve.
"For too long, governance has felt distant, locked behind walls of bureaucracy. But our country’s greatest resource isn’t oil or land; it is our people. If we are going to build the Nigeria of our dreams, we must start by tearing down the walls between leaders and the people," he said.
Atiku described Ask AA as a place for transparency, accountability, and dialogue. He added that Nigerians can question his economic record, review his policy plans, and suggest ideas for national growth.
"No filters, no intermediaries," he said.
He also said he would personally call some participants who leave their contact details on the platform. He wants to hear about their experiences and the challenges they face.
"Beyond answering questions here, I will personally call selected citizens who leave their contact details so I can hear directly about their experiences and the issues affecting their daily lives," he said.
Atiku served as Vice-President from 1999 to 2007. He has tried to become president several times.
He encouraged Nigerians to join the initiative by sending in questions and suggestions. He believes that a government powered by technology and transparency should start with leaders listening to their people.
