The African Democratic Congress is set to launch its presidential campaign in Sokoto State. The event will take place at the party’s state secretariat on Ilorin Road as the party gears up for the 2027 elections.

Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, will lead the campaign activities. The secretariat is located at No. 1 Ilorin Road, Sokoto, and the event is scheduled for Wednesday.

Senator Ibrahim Lamido, the ADC State Presidential Campaign Coordinator, shared this news in a statement. He said Atiku will arrive at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, at 9 am.

Lamido invited party supporters and the public to welcome the former Vice President at the airport. After that, they will move to the campaign venue.

He also called on party executives from all 23 local government areas and wards, along with mobilisation coordinators, support groups, and organizations for women and youth to gather their members for the event.

"All local government area and ward executives, mobilisation coordinators, support groups, women and youth organisations are urged to activate their respective structures and ensure maximum participation," Lamido said.

The campaign launch comes as political activities heat up in Sokoto. There have been tensions between the ADC and the ruling All Progressives Congress over claims of intimidation and limits on opposition activities.

The ADC accused the Sokoto State Government of sealing its campaign office on Ahmadu Bello Way. This led the party to demand that the office be reopened immediately.

Concerns have also been raised about the safety of ADC members and supporters due to claims of attacks and political intimidation in the state. These allegations have sparked reactions from various political figures.

The upcoming campaign is seen as a chance for the ADC to strengthen its support base and share its political message with voters in Sokoto as the 2027 elections approach.
