The Business of Sports Institute Africa (BOS Africa) and The Temple Company are joining forces to build skills and create more hands-on learning chances in Africa’s sports sector.

This partnership was announced on 14 October. It will mix BOS Africa’s sports business training programs with Temple’s know-how in areas like talent management, brand strategy, sponsorship, media, commercial partnerships, and intellectual property.

Ogidi Studios, which is Temple’s production hub, will also bring its skills in audiovisual production to help with practical learning.

The two organizations will work together on masterclasses, workshops, executive learning programs, and other industry events. BOS Africa will take charge of academic and program development. Temple and Ogidi Studios will focus on industry expertise, practitioner involvement, and hands-on training.

They plan to focus on things like sponsorship proposals, athlete branding and representation, endorsement deals, image-rights negotiations, sports content production, digital storytelling, and creating sustainable sports organizations.

Participants will work with industry case studies, simulations, studio demos, and, when possible, real-world assignments.

Terfa Tilley-Gyado, the president and CEO of The Temple Company, said the partnership is a way to link sports business education with what really happens in the industry.

“Africa is not short of sporting talent. The bigger opportunity is to build the businesses, institutions, and commercial structures that let that talent create sustainable value. BOS Africa is building an important academic foundation, and Temple and Ogidi Studios can help connect that learning to the realities of the industry.”

He added that this initiative will show participants how to get sponsorships, manage athletes’ commercial interests, and produce sports content.

“We want participants to understand how sponsorship deals are developed, how athletes are positioned commercially, how rights are protected and how compelling content is produced. Ultimately, our success should be measured not only by the number of people trained, but by the careers, businesses, and opportunities they are equipped to create,” he said.

Beverley Agbakoba-Onyejianya, founder and academic director of BOS Africa, mentioned that this partnership is part of the effort to make specialized sports business education easier to access and build skills within African markets.

“Our mission is to make quality sports-business education more accessible and to develop the expertise Africa needs within its own markets. We cannot continue to depend primarily on institutions elsewhere to prepare professionals for every specialized area of sport. We have the talent, the ambition and a growing community of practitioners who can help us build that capacity here.”

She explained that working with industry practitioners will help link classroom learning to the real world.

“Strong partnerships make that ambition achievable. Working with The Temple Company and Ogidi Studios creates new opportunities to connect learning with practical industry experience and to bring professionals and organizations across the continent together. We believe there is enormous scope to develop the people who will shape Africa’s sports economy,” she said.

This partnership will add to BOS Africa’s current programs, which include sports business administration, sponsorship and marketing, sports media and broadcasting, intellectual property, and sports finance and investment.

The organizations also plan to use this collaboration to engage sports bodies, businesses, investors, and policymakers in talks about developing Africa’s sports economy.
