Canada and Paraguay Out of 2026 World Cup After Round of 16 Losses

Two countries are out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after the Round of 16 matches.

Co-hosts Canada and Paraguay were eliminated on Saturday.

They lost to Morocco and France, which ended their World Cup dreams.

Morocco made history by reaching the quarter-finals with a strong 3-0 win over Canada.

France narrowly defeated Paraguay 1-0 to secure the other quarter-final spot from Saturday’s games.

Morocco’s victory came with a standout performance from Azzedine Ounahi, who scored two goals. Soufiane Rahimi added a third goal to finish the match and send Morocco to the quarter-finals.

For France, Kylian Mbappe scored a crucial penalty in the second half to help them beat Paraguay and stay in the chase for their third World Cup title.

This win sets up a quarter-final match between France and Morocco on Thursday, with a chance to reach the semi-finals on the line.

The Round of 16 will continue on Sunday. Five-time champions Brazil will play against Norway at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Also, England will face Mexico in another exciting match at NRG Stadium in Houston.

On Monday, there will be a clash between Portugal and Spain at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Meanwhile, hosts the United States will take on Belgium at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

The final matches of the Round of 16 are set for Tuesday. Argentina is expected to play the winner of the last Round of 32 match between Egypt, Australia, and Cape Verde. Switzerland will face either Colombia or Ghana.
