Nigeria’s goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo is being watched by EFL Championship clubs Charlton Athletic and Bolton Wanderers. This is happening about two weeks before the summer transfer window closes, as reported by Sports Illustrated and PUNCH Sports Extra.

Okonkwo is currently behind Anthony Patterson and Danny Ward in the goalkeeping lineup at Wrexham. This is after Wrexham signed Patterson from Sunderland for a club-record fee.

With the Super Eagles player in the last year of his contract, Wrexham risks losing him for free next summer. This will happen if he is not sold before the current transfer window or the January window closes.

Okonkwo first joined Wrexham on loan for the 2023/24 season. He later signed a permanent deal after spending 15 years at Arsenal. He joined Arsenal when he was just eight years old.

He played a major role in helping Wrexham earn back-to-back promotions. This took the club from League Two to the Championship. He has 47 clean sheets in 121 matches for Wrexham, while conceding 127 goals.

On the international scene, Okonkwo was impressive when Nigeria won the 2026 Unity Cup. He kept clean sheets during victories over Zimbabwe and Jamaica.
