A Chinese car maker, Lincon Bravos Automobile Company, has started assembling vehicles and motorcycles in Niger State. The company makes electric and hybrid vehicles along with motorcycles and opened the plant in 2026.
The Niger State Ministry of Investment and Private Sector Development shared this news through its Information and Public Relations Unit. They said the Niger State Development Company (NSDC) worked with the ministry to make this investment happen.
The statement mentioned that the Niger State Government now owns a 10 per cent share in the company. This is part of its investment policy. They called this partnership a smart move to help industry growth and boost the economy.
The project is expected to create thousands of jobs, both direct and indirect, for young people. It aims to enhance local manufacturing and help diversify the state's economy.
Ismail Waziri, the Chief Executive Officer of Lincon Bravos Automobile Company, said that the products are meant to offer affordable, durable, and high-quality transport for Nigerians. Mr Waziri added that the motorcycles come with a three-year warranty, while the vehicles have a five-year warranty. He also noted that the vehicles use Nissan parts, which makes spare parts easy to find and cuts down maintenance costs for buyers. The company has set up service centres in Minna, Suleja, and Abuja to provide after-sales support, according to the CEO.
Mr Waziri also mentioned that they are in advanced talks with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Niger State. They are working through the Ministry of Investment and Private Sector Development to set up a payment plan. This plan would allow civil servants in the state to buy the company’s vehicles and motorcycles in instalments.
The Niger State Government sees the start of this operation as a big step forward in its investment and industrialisation plans. They noted that this fits well with Governor Mohammed Bago’s “New Niger Agenda,” which aims to draw in investors, grow local industries, and create steady jobs.
