AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze will not play in Thursday’s Europa League match against Bournemouth because of a left hip injury.
Reports from Milan News say the Nigerian missed the club’s last training session at Milanello before the game. He will see a specialist to check how serious the injury is.
Milan is worried about the extent of the injury.
The 26-year-old picked up the injury after Milan's 3-2 Serie A win over Atalanta on October 18. There is no set date for his return.
The match at the Vitality Stadium on October 22 is Milan’s third game in the league phase of this season’s Europa League.
Chukwueze's absence limits head coach Ruben Amorim's attacking options on the right side. He has been a regular player under the Portuguese coach this season.
Milan is also facing other injury issues. Alexis Saelemaekers is out after ankle surgery, and Matteo Gabbia missed the last training session. Both players are expected to be unavailable for a few months.
Filippo Terracciano trained with the team but cannot play due to a suspension after receiving a red card last Thursday in Salzburg. Midfielder Warren Bondo also trained but is not on the club’s UEFA squad list. Milan Futuro defender Valeri Vladimirov joined the first team for the session.
Milan hopes the medical assessment will give them a better idea of how long Chukwueze will be out before they plan his return to the field.
