Afrobeats star David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has condemned the attack on the chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government Area of Osun State. The chairman, Asimiyu Ajibola, also known as Baba Isila, was targeted in the attack.
Davido shared details about the incident on his X account on Thursday. The attack happened around 9:50 pm near the Osogbo Community Bank area. Gunmen reportedly opened fire on a blue Toyota Corolla carrying Ajibola and his friends.
The shooting caused panic among local residents. Reports say Ajibola suffered injuries and was taken to a teaching hospital for treatment.
After hearing about the incident, Davido called for an end to political violence. He highlighted that political disagreements should not lead to insecurity or bloodshed.
Davido's uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, is planning to run for re-election in the August 2026 governorship election. The singer urged politicians to resolve their issues through voting, not violence.
“Regardless of our political differences, everyone must make sure they are not contributing to insecurity in our nation,” he wrote.
He added, “The attack on the Chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government by political hoodlums must be condemned and rejected by all.
“If APC is sure they are popular, let’s settle this with ballot papers, not guns or weapons,” he said.
