Davnotch Nigeria Limited has shown strong support for Tennis in Nigeria. The company promised to keep sponsoring the Davnotch National Open Tennis Championship. They also plan to offer better benefits to players in future tournaments.
Managing Director Emmanuel Ochei shared this news during a media chat before the grand finale of the sixth edition of the championship. The event took place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
Ochei emphasized that developing sports needs steady investment, new ideas, and careful planning. He mentioned that future tournaments would come with higher prize money and more programs to help players at all levels.
He highlighted a major achievement of the tournament. Nigeria’s Davis Cup team recently broke a 37-year jinx by moving up to Group 2 after beating Uzbekistan, a team with a higher ranking. Ochei believes this success is partly due to the talent developed through past editions of the championship.
“That remains our vision, and we are committed to making it a reality,” Ochei said. He is confident that the tournament will keep being a place for finding new talent and helping players grow. He hopes it will also help Nigeria become a top player in tennis, both in Africa and beyond.
