FirstBank Nigeria Limited is supporting the 65th Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championship. This event will take place in November at the Ikoyi Club 1938 golf section.
The bank's support comes from its first@sports initiative. This shows FirstBank's promise to help grow sports in Nigeria. The Lagos Open is the oldest golf tournament in Nigeria.
Organisers have promised an exciting 2026 edition. They aim to highlight talent and attract some of the best amateur golfers from Africa. These players will compete for glory and global ranking points. The tournament is recognised by the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
Amateur golfers and those dreaming of turning professional are eager for the event.
Last year, Babatunde Oyalami from Osun won the 64th edition. He finished three shots ahead, ending with a total of 231 over 54 holes. His scores were 78 on the first day, 75 on the second, and 78 in the final round.
Winning this tournament has motivated Oyalami to pursue a professional golf career, just like many before him.
FirstBank has always played a big part in promoting sports in Nigeria. Their programs support golf, polo, basketball, football, tennis, and more.
The Lagos Open has transformed from a small amateur competition into a championship that supports youth development across Nigeria.
