Dazzle FC, a football academy based in Lagos, made a big impression at the 2026 Dana Cup in Hjørring, Denmark. The club’s U-12 team became champions in their first tournament, while the U-14 team finished as runners-up after a strong performance.
The Dana Cup is one of the largest youth football tournaments in the world. It took place from July 20 to 25, with 946 teams from 56 countries taking part.
The tournament had around 2,600 matches played across 62 pitches. Nearly 30,000 participants joined from all over the globe.
Dazzle FC’s U-12 team had a perfect run in the Boys’ 7v7 category. They won all nine matches, scoring an incredible 56 goals and allowing just six goals against them.
The academy showed their strength on the international stage with impressive wins in the group stage. One standout victory was a 17-0 win against SV Schwansen, along with other strong performances.
The Nigerian kids kept their winning streak in the knockout round. They defeated Brazil’s RS Sports 2-1 in the semi-finals, securing a spot in the final.
In the final match, they faced Mexican team IFAC and won 1-0 after extra time. Akinremi Abdullahi scored the crucial goal, giving Dazzle FC its first Dana Cup title.
Dazzle FC’s U-14 team also had a great tournament. They moved through the group stage and made a strong effort to reach the final in the play-off competition.
In the final, they went up against Rawahel from Palestine. The match was tough and ended in a draw after regulation time. Unfortunately, the Nigerian team lost 5-3 in the penalty shootout.
Even with the loss, Dazzle FC’s goalkeeper Ojerinde Toheeb stood out. He was named the Best Player in the U-14 category.
Toheeb helped his team reach the final by keeping three clean sheets in five matches.
