Dele Odule remembers his late friend Ogogo

Veteran Nollywood actor Dele Odule has paid tribute to his friend Taiwo Hassan, known as Ogogo. He described Ogogo's death as a loss that can't be put into words.

On his Instagram page on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, Odule reflected on their friendship, which began when they were young and lasted almost 40 years.

“Taiwo, this is a loss that no words I put out can adequately describe.”

“My dear friend and brother of nearly 40 years. Ours was one of those friendships that life just blesses one with. When we met as young men trying to navigate life, who between us would have thought we would form a bond that would last for decades and turn friends into brothers?” Odule wrote.

Odule also shared videos on his Instagram Stories showing the fun times they had together, including clips of them dancing at events.

He praised Ogogo’s huge impact on Nigerian theatre and celebrated his roots as an Ilaro native from Ogun State. Odule spoke about Ogogo’s artistic legacy and his connection with people.

He noted the national mourning that followed Ogogo's death. Fans, colleagues, and people from Ilaro came together to honor him.

Feeling the loss deeply, Odule talked about the bond they shared with veteran actor Yinka Quadri.

“I will miss you a lot, Taiwo. I will miss the happiness you always exude. Who will Yinka and I banter with now?” Odule said.

He added, “You won’t be here to remind me that you are my big brother. You have left Yinka to continue that with me. We will both miss the brotherhood we shared for years.

“Your departure has left a space that cannot be filled. Even the whole world knows that we didn’t just lose our colleague. We lost a brother… Rest well, my brother. You will never be forgotten. May the Almighty Allah accept your good deeds and grant you Al-Jannah Firdaus,” he concluded.

This heartfelt tribute came after Ogogo was buried in Ilaro, Ogun State, where he was laid to rest according to Islamic customs.

Odule was among the Nollywood stars who attended the funeral to say their final goodbyes.

Ogogo passed away on Sunday, August 23, after fighting stage-four cancer. His death brought tributes from political leaders, fans, and key figures in the entertainment industry across Nigeria.
