Did Pastor Chris Really Prophesy About the 2027 Elections? Here's What We Found
Sponsored — In Article

An article going around online says Chris Oyakhilome, the founder of Christ Embassy, recently gave a prophecy about three main candidates in Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.

This claim popped up in an article titled [“2027: Pastor Chris Drops Shocking Prophecy on Three Major Presidential Candidates [VIDEO]”.](https://phoenix-browser.com/Knlye3dgFnw). It was spotted on the Phoenix Browser news feed and linked to PoliticsNigeria.

The article has a video clip where Pastor Chris talks about three candidates. He uses phrases like “the jackal” and “you will have no country,” and mentions a third candidate whose name is found in the Bible.

As talks about the 2027 elections heat up, this video has gained more attention online.

THE CLAIM

Mr Oyakhilome supposedly shared a prophecy about three key presidential candidates for Nigeria’s 2027 general election.

FINDINGS

To check this claim, PREMIUM TIMES looked at the video in the article and found its original source.

Findings show that the video is not new. In fact, it is from before Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election and was already available before Nigerians voted on 25 February 2023.

An archived YouTube broadcast called “What Pastor Chris Said about the major candidates of the 2023 Nigerian Presidential Election” shows that it was published on 20 February 2023, just five days before the presidential election.

This archived video, uploaded by Mediablast Network, includes the description: “2023 Presidential election, watch what Pastor Chris Said.” It has tags related to the 2023 Nigerian election and carries a publication date of 20 February 2023.

The video includes the same statements that are now being called a prophecy for the 2027 election.

In the archived clip, Pastor Chris starts talking about the candidates at around 24 seconds. At about 1 minute 44 seconds into the video, he says, “The jackal is cut off,” and explains what that means. At around 2 minutes 41 seconds, he discusses the second candidate. Then, at about 3 minutes 9 seconds, he talks about a third candidate, saying he is “afraid of winning” and asks the congregation to pray for him. At roughly 4 minutes 57 seconds, he adds that the candidate’s name is in the Bible.

These timestamps match the remarks shared in the article that is currently going viral.

The sermon was delivered during the lead-up to the 2023 presidential election, which had Bola Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi from the Labour Party (LP) as the key candidates.

Though Mr Oyakhilome did not directly name any candidate in the parts of the sermon we checked, many viewers and commentators interpreted his descriptions as references to the main candidates of the 2023 presidential election.

The article that presents the video as a prophecy for 2027 does not mention that the footage was initially published before the 2023 election. Instead, the headline and introduction claim that Mr Oyakhilome “has shared a revelation concerning Nigeria’s 2027 general elections,” making it seem like the remarks are new.

PREMIUM TIMES found no proof that the sermon was delivered recently or that it specifically refers to the 2027 election.

Instead, the evidence shows that the video was made during the 2023 election period and is now being shared in a different political context.

WHY IT MATTERS

Old videos and statements often get reused without their original context. This can make people think they relate to current or future events.

As discussions about the 2027 elections grow, recycling old political content can mislead people into thinking past remarks are new comments on ongoing issues.

VERDICT

MISLEADING

The video is real, but it is not a recent prophecy about Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election. Evidence shows it was published on 20 February 2023, before the 25 February 2023 presidential election, and is being shared without its original context.
