Youths from the 11 wards in Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State gathered on Wednesday to show support for Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress candidate for the upcoming governorship election on August 15.

Miftau Adebowale, the group leader, made this known after a walk through Ejigbo's main streets. They aimed to raise awareness for Oyebamiji’s campaign. He urged voters to focus on real issues instead of emotional appeals during the election.

Adebowale, who was once the Special Assistant on Media to former Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, said the political talks in the local government should prioritize the development of the area. He stated that they should not just focus on emotions.

“The youth of Ejigbo refuse to allow our local government to be converted into a pawn for external political agendas. Our communities need better roads, agricultural support, youth jobs, and true representation.

“For these reasons, the youth stakeholders from all eleven wards fully support our party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji,” he added.

Adebowale praised Oyebamiji’s experience and skills in governance. He mentioned that the APC candidate has a proven history of good administration and financial management.

He said, “As a former two-term Commissioner for Finance, he showed great discipline by raising Osun State’s Internally Generated Revenue from six billion Naira to twenty-four billion Naira without putting heavy tax burdens on small business owners or low-income residents.

“He also served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He has direct access to the federal government and the right skills for the job.

“Additionally, Oyebamiji comes from Ikire, a historic town closely linked to Ejigbo. The founders of both towns are known to be brothers. Supporting Oyebamiji is not going against our heritage; it is a smart move based on our shared history and proven leadership.”

He pointed out that an APC government led by Oyebamiji, working with President Bola Tinubu at the federal level and Ayodele Asalu, the APC candidate for Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency, would create a solid governance connection.

He called on youth groups, student bodies, artisans, market leaders, and elders in Ejigbo Local Government Area to see beyond emotional slogans and support Oyebamiji in the upcoming election.

The PUNCH reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission has approved 14 political parties to field candidates in the August 15 election in Osun State.
