Voting has ended in some polling units in Ekiti State. Residents are choosing their next governor for four years.
Voting started at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday in many of the 2,445 polling units across the 16 local government areas.
In some areas, many people turned out to vote. But in other places, the turnout was quite low.
Our reporters saw several cases of vote buying in many polling units.
Ekiti has 1,059,360 registered voters. Out of these, only 1,028,929 who picked up their Permanent Voter Cards can vote in this election. The polling units are located in the 177 wards of the 16 local government areas in the South-west.
Results will be announced by INECβs presiding officers at each polling unit. After that, they will collate results at two levels: the wards and the local governments. The final results will be put together at the INEC headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
