Renowned Nigerian cleric, Isa El-Buba, has shown support for the presidential ambition of the Social Democratic Party candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, ahead of the 2027 general election. He believes Nigeria needs to change its leadership direction.

El-Buba made this known on Wednesday while speaking to delegates, party leaders, and supporters at an SDP event in Bauchi State. He called on Nigerians to come together to help reposition the country.

As the convener of the Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria, he described the gathering as an important moment for the party. He congratulated members for what he termed a peaceful and successful event.

Worried about the country’s issues, El-Buba pointed out that Nigeria's rich human and natural resources have not led to better living conditions for many people.

"Nigeria is blessed with abundant resources, intelligent people, and great potential, yet millions still suffer from insecurity, unemployment, poverty, and injustice," he said.

He noted that poor leadership over the years has denied Nigerians, especially young people, access to opportunities, quality education, and economic growth.

El-Buba emphasized that the current situation calls for united action from citizens who want to change the country's direction.

"Now is the time that we need to join forces to rewrite history. Nigeria cannot continue to go through pain, frustration, and clueless leadership," El-Buba stated.

The cleric also raised alarm about Nigeria’s democratic future. He warned against anything that could lead to a one-party political system.

"Nigeria cannot go into a one-party state. Every system survives by justice and equity. Oppression is never the pathway to stability, and peace cannot thrive in the midst of injustice," he declared.

Showing his support for Adebayo, El-Buba mentioned that his movement would rally support for the SDP leader in the upcoming presidential election.

"We believe Prince Adewole Adebayo represents the kind of leadership Nigeria needs at this critical time. That is why members of our movement will mobilise support for him ahead of the 2027 presidential election," El-Buba said.

He argued that Nigerians looking for real national change should back leaders who are dedicated to restoring public trust and rebuilding the country’s institutions.

The cleric also spoke against vote-buying and political bribery. He insisted that citizens are now more politically aware and will not sell their future for temporary benefits.

"Nobody will buy the conscience of Nigeria with money or a bag of rice. Nigerians are tired, and it is time to recover the glory of our country," he said.

El-Buba expressed hope that the country could overcome its challenges through effective leadership and active citizen involvement.

He congratulated SDP members and supporters, viewing the current political moment as the start of a renewed effort for national rebirth and what he called the emergence of a "new Nigeria."
