Renowned Nigerian cleric, Isa El-Buba, has thrown his weight behind the presidential ambition of Prince Adewole Adebayo, the candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), as we approach the 2027 elections. He believes Nigeria needs new leadership and a fresh direction.

El-Buba made this known on Wednesday at an SDP event in Bauchi State. He spoke to delegates, party leaders, and supporters, calling on Nigerians to come together to help reposition the country.

As the convener of the Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria, El-Buba described the gathering as an important moment for the party. He congratulated everyone for what he termed a peaceful and successful meeting.

He shared his worries about Nigeria's problems, noting that the country's huge human and natural resources have not improved the lives of many citizens.

"Nigeria is blessed with abundant resources, intelligent people and great potential, yet millions still suffer from insecurity, unemployment, poverty and injustice," he said.

El-Buba pointed out that years of bad leadership have robbed Nigerians, especially young people, of chances for good education and economic growth.

He emphasized that things cannot stay the same and urged citizens to act together to change the country's future.

"Now is the time that we need to join forces to rewrite history. Nigeria cannot continue to go through pain, frustration and clueless leadership," El-Buba stated.

The cleric also expressed worries about Nigeria's democratic future. He warned against any situation that could lead to a one-party political system.

"Nigeria cannot go into a one-party state. Every system survives by justice and equity. Oppression is never the pathway to stability, and peace cannot thrive in the midst of injustice," he declared.

El-Buba pledged his support for Adebayo, announcing that members of his movement will rally behind the SDP leader as the presidential election approaches.

"We believe Prince Adewole Adebayo represents the kind of leadership Nigeria needs at this critical time. That is why members of our movement will mobilise support for him ahead of the 2027 presidential election," El-Buba said.

He argued that Nigerians looking for real change should back leaders who are committed to restoring public trust and rebuilding the country.

The cleric also condemned vote-buying and political bribery, insisting that citizens are now more politically aware and will not trade their future for short-term benefits.

"Nobody will buy the conscience of Nigeria with money or a bag of rice. Nigerians are tired, and it is time to recover the glory of our country," he said.

El-Buba is confident that Nigeria can overcome its challenges through focused leadership and active citizen involvement. He congratulated SDP members and supporters, calling this political moment the start of a new search for national renewal and what he terms a "new Nigeria."
