The Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has officially named Malam Isiaka Abdulrazaq as the Tafidan Yamman Zazzau. This appointment highlights his dedication to community development, charity work, peace-building, and the growth of the Zazzau Emirate.
The announcement came in a letter dated Wednesday, 7 October 2026 (27 Rabi’ul Thani, 1448 AH). The letter was sent by the Office of the Council Secretary of the Zazzau Emirate Council and signed by Malam Yusuf Abubakar Hayat, the Magatakardan Zazzau.
The Emirate Council stated that this traditional title acknowledges Mallam Abdulrazaq’s hard work and contributions to promoting peace, developing the community, and supporting the progress of the Zazzau Emirate, Kaduna State, and Nigeria.
Malam Isiaka Abdulrazaq is a skilled lawyer, finance expert, and public servant with a long career in Nigeria’s public sector. He worked at the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA), now called the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), where he became Executive Director of Finance and Accounts.
He later joined the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, retiring in 2019 as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He played a significant role in the country’s energy sector during his time there.
Born in Zaria, Mallam Abdulrazaq attended Barewa College, Zaria, one of the oldest and most respected schools in Northern Nigeria. His family has strong ties to Zaria, showing his deep connection to the Zazzau Emirate and its people.
Aside from his professional achievements, Mallam Abdulrazaq is well-known for his community work and charitable activities. He has shown a lasting commitment to the welfare and development of the people over the years.
Malam Isiaka Abdulrazaq is the son of the late A G F Abdulrazaq, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a notable legal practitioner. The elder Abdulrazaq was a former Tafidan Zazzau, a title he received in 1962.
The Abdulrazaq family has been connected to Zaria since the mid-1950s, maintaining strong relationships with the Zazzau Emirate. His new role continues the family’s historical ties to the traditional institution and their contributions to the community.
The Emir of Zazzau and members of the Zazzau Emirate Council have congratulated Mallam Isiaka Abdulrazaq on his new role. They expressed confidence in his ability to uphold the title’s dignity and handle its responsibilities with honesty and dedication.
They prayed that Almighty Allah would guide him, grant him wisdom and strength to meet the expectations of this office, and bless him with success in serving the Emirate and its people.
