Enugu Assembly disbands health committee, shares reasons

The Enugu State House of Assembly has disbanded its Committee on Health due to claims of serious misconduct and arrogance.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Uche Ugwu, made this announcement on Tuesday during a meeting in Enugu.

The members affected are Okechukwu Aneke (Udi South), Harrison Ogara (Igbo-Eze South), Osita Okoh (Enugu East Urban) and Anthony Nwankwo (Awgu South).

Mr Ugwu explained that the decision was necessary after the disruptive behavior shown by the committee chairman, Mr Aneke, during the last executive session on 21 September.

The speaker also accused Mr Aneke of being overly authoritative while managing the Committee.

To address the situation, he set up a five-person ad hoc disciplinary committee led by Iloabuchi Aniagu. This committee will look into the matter and give a report back to the Assembly within 14 days.
