Enzo Fernández has made history as the first player to be sold for over £100m twice after joining Manchester City.
The former Chelsea midfielder explained his choice to move to Manchester City. He said he is ready for a new challenge and wants to help the club keep winning trophies.
Fernández completed his transfer from Chelsea to City in a British-record deal worth £125m.
He mentioned that City’s winning spirit and the skill of the players influenced his decision. He said, “I could not be happier to be here, and I am ready for the challenge of helping City continue winning trophies. This is a club built for success.”
At 25 years old, he also expressed his eagerness to learn from his new teammates and grow as a player.
“If you look across the squad, City have quality in every area. I want to learn from my new teammates and become a better player,” he added.
Fernández will reconnect with coach Enzo Maresca, who he worked with during Maresca’s time at Chelsea.
He comes to City after a tough period at Chelsea. Some fans booed him before he eventually left the club.
Despite the rough times, Fernández said he is thankful to Chelsea.
“Chelsea will always be in my heart,” he said in a letter to the club.
Now, Fernández is looking ahead to his new journey at Manchester City. He promised to give everything for his new team.
“I give absolutely everything and I can promise Manchester City that I will continue now I’m here,” he said.
