Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is in the news as a European club is ready to offer €120m to Galatasaray for him this summer. But the Turkish champions say they do not want to let him go.
Turkish football transfer expert Burhan Can Terzi shared that the unnamed club has told Galatasaray officials about their offer. However, the club did not respond positively, showing they want to keep Osimhen.
"A European club has informed Galatasaray officials that they are willing to pay a transfer fee of €120m for Osimhen. Galatasaray management did not provide a favourable response. Should Galatasaray approve negotiations, a formal offer will be submitted," Terzi said.
Osimhen, who is 27 years old, had a great season at Galatasaray after joining the club permanently. He scored 22 goals and made eight assists in 33 matches across all competitions. The Yellow-Reds successfully defended their Super Lig title. His strong performances have caught the eye of top European clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Atletico Madrid. Atletico Madrid is reportedly looking at him as a replacement if Julian Alvarez moves to Barcelona.
Turkish football analyst Nevzat Dindar revealed that he spoke directly with Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek about Osimhen's situation. He said the club is firm about keeping the player.
"I spoke with the president in Kemerburgaz. He absolutely does not intend to sell Osimhen. There are offers worth €120m through intermediaries, but they are not concrete. The priority is for Osimhen to stay with the team. But if Osimhen wants to leave, Galatasaray will not accept an offer below €150m. Osimhen also has no intention of leaving," Dindar told Milliyet.
The news that Galatasaray's minimum asking price is €150m may scare off all but the richest clubs in Europe. Still, interest in one of the best strikers on the continent is expected to grow as the summer transfer window continues.
