The Commercial Director of Fidson Healthcare PLC, Ola Ijimakin, says the company decided to give a Theatre Pharmacy to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Asaba, Delta State. They made this donation because of the great work the hospital is doing to save lives.
Mr Ijimakin spoke at the project inauguration on Thursday in Asaba. He mentioned that FMC has done a lot in health care for people in the state and truly deserves the support.
“FMC Asaba is an institution close to us and it’s doing a great job in this part of the country. We felt we could support that work.
“When we talked with them, they chose this project as dear and a priority among other projects. It is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the project costs tens of millions of naira.
“It is a pharmacy dedicated to the theatre, with drugs, a rest area, offices, and all the necessary tools to run an effective theatre,” Mr Ijimakin said.
He added that his company would keep in touch to make sure the facility stays up to date and assist whenever needed.
The FMC Medical Director, Ekeneam Omo, who inaugurated the project, praised Fidson Healthcare PLC for making it happen. He called on other partners of FMC to follow Fidson’s example and do more to save lives.
Mr Omo described the project as a successful partnership. He noted that Fidson has created more space for an efficient and functional theatre pharmacy at the centre.
He explained that the theatre pharmacy existed before, but it was in a very small room. The new one has a bigger space and will provide better service to doctors and patients at the facility.
“I feel very excited and happy that we are commissioning a project that is a partnership between FMC Asaba and Fidson Nigeria Healthcare.
“I am glad that Fidson decided to invest in the centre for the health of our patients. I look forward to seeing more corporate organisations come to do the same here.
“It is a theatre pharmacy, located next to the theatre; the drugs and items that will be sold are for use in the theatre.
“It will serve the theatre and the surrounding area. The advantage of having the pharmacy close to the theatre is that doctors and patients can easily access drugs during emergencies.”
Omonigho John-David, the FMC director of finance, also praised Fidson for this kind gesture. He described the project inauguration as a double celebration.
According to him, the inauguration of the newly reconstructed Theatre Pharmacy happened on the same day as the medical director’s birthday.
“The project is a source of joy; it will improve healthcare delivery at the hospital. I call it a double celebration because our medical director is also celebrating his birthday today.”
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that several stakeholders in the health sector in the state attended the event.
