Finidi George says Rivers United is stronger this season

Rivers United coach Finidi George thinks his team is better than last season. This comes after the club's impressive start in the Nigeria Premier Football League, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

The team from Port Harcourt has done well in the league, even though they had a rough time in the CAF Champions League. They were knocked out early in the tournament.

After four matches in the NPFL this season, Finidi's squad has 10 points. They have not lost any game, with their only dropped points coming from a 1-1 draw against Nasarawa United in Lafia.

They have won the other three matches, all played at home. Their latest win was a big 5-0 victory over Kun Khalifat on Thursday.

Despite the setback in Africa, Rivers United is on a roll in the league, with three wins and a draw. Finidi believes the new players have made the squad stronger this season.

"The players we signed this season are much better than last season," Finidi said after their last game.

"I think the players are beginning to get it right, and I believe it will continue this way," he added.

Last season, Rivers United finished second, just behind Rangers International. With a tough schedule ahead, Finidi also stressed the need for his players to get enough rest to keep their fitness levels up.

The Pride of Rivers will head to Katsina to play newly promoted Barau FC on Monday. They will then face Katsina United on Wednesday and return home to play Ikorodu City on Sunday.

"We are having a couple of games coming up, and it’s going to be a tasking week or two weeks for the players. So, I think it’s not bad to rest them so they will be fresh for the next game. It’s going to be hectic for the players," Finidi said.
