A room in a building at No. 38 Oluwalogbon Street, Ijooro area of Asa-Dam, Ilorin, Kwara State, caught fire on Tuesday. A spark from solar wiring started the fire, igniting materials in the room.
The Kwara State Fire Service received a call about the fire and got to the scene at 4:14 PM. Firefighters quickly began working to stop the fire from spreading to other parts of the building.
This information came from a statement by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Hassan Adekunle. The statement was shared with PUNCH Metro in Ilorin.
The building has around three-bedroom flats. The fire affected just one room in the building.
“Our firefighters swiftly began firefighting operations and successfully contained the fire, stopping it from spreading to other parts of the building,” the statement noted.

The Chief Fire Officer, Alabi Muhammed, praised the firefighters for their quick action. He urged residents to be more careful with the safety of solar and electrical installations in their homes.
“Property owners should hire qualified professionals for electrical and solar installations. They must also fix any damaged or faulty wiring quickly to avoid fire incidents,” Muhammed advised.
