Nigeria’s Flamingos have touched down in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The team is ready to start final preparations for the tournament.
The Nigerian group arrived in Casablanca and checked into the Ibis Hotel. This is where the players and technical crew will continue their training before their first match.
Head coach Akeem Busari has picked a squad of 21 players for the competition. Captain Harmony Chidi is leading the team.
The Flamingos earned their spot in the tournament by winning the WAFU-B U-17 Girls Championship. Nigeria is set to face a tough Group B, which includes Poland, Puerto Rico, and two-time champions Korea DPR.
They will kick off their campaign against Poland on Saturday, October 17. After that, they will play Puerto Rico on October 20. Their last group match will be against Korea DPR on October 23.
All three group-stage matches will happen at the Women’s Football Complex in Rabat.
Nigeria came third in the last FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2022. They are looking to improve on that in Morocco.
The tournament runs from October 17 to November 7. Busari’s team will use the last days before their first match to adjust to the conditions, improve their tactics, and get ready for the challenges ahead.
The Flamingos aim to move past a tough group and reach the knockout stages.
