Former PDP and ADC Supporters Aim for 100,000 Votes for Tinubu and Yayi

Some ex-supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress in Ogun State are now mobilising for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and the governorship bid of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, known as Yayi. They are doing this under a group called the Yayi Ni Wura Alliance Movement.

This group includes members from various political backgrounds, such as former supporters of PDP and ADC. They aim to secure 100,000 votes for the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State during the 2027 elections.

During a press conference on Thursday at Iwe Iroyin in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the Director of Media and Publicity for the group, Wasiu Adejumo, also known as Westo, shared that members of this movement came from different political parties before choosing to back Tinubu and Adeola.

He highlighted the importance of the APC governorship candidate and his positive impact on the state, even while representing Ogun West. Adejumo stated, "We were initially on the side of the opposition party. Some of us are from APC, some of us are from PDP, and some of us are from ADC."

"Because we want to support Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, Yayi, in Ogun State, and we want to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we decided to come together. Our target is to mobilise at least 100,000 votes to ensure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu so that he can continue his good works and reforms beyond 2027. We also want our hardworking senator, Sen Solomon Adeola, fondly called Yayi, to be the next governor of Ogun State."

Akeem Shodiya, the state coordinator of YAM, also spoke. He said the group was formed to gather support for Tinubu, Adeola, and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. Shodiya mentioned that the alliance would welcome members from other political parties who want to join their efforts.

He said, "We have made our decision. We have chosen our direction. We are open to all, and we want everyone to support this movement." He added that the group's mobilization would involve engaging with the grassroots and conducting community activities.

The group also took a shot at opposition politicians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, while expressing their support for Tinubu.

"We support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in Ogun State, from Senator Yayi to Senator Shuaib Salisu, who is also seeking re-election for the Senate in Ogun Central. We support Olumide Osoba; we support all APC candidates across the state."

"Our 100,000-vote target reflects the alliance’s plan to mobilise in Ogun State. We are committed to achieving this so that the progress made in the last three and a half years under the APC administration continues beyond 2027," he said.
