The head coach of Nigeria’s senior women’s volleyball team, Elishama Elam, and three other coaches have earned their Fédération Internationale de Volleyball Level II coaching certificates.

A statement from Prince Tunde Omisore, the Vice President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, confirmed this on Sunday. The coaches passed their promotional exams in The Gambia.

The coaches who received their certificates are Elam, Taiwo Oladipupo, head coach of the men’s team, Ayokunnu Aboderin, and Dauda Saje. Saje is also the players’ representative on the NVBF board. He performed the best overall, scoring the highest in the tough exams.

Omisore praised the four coaches. He said this achievement is a big boost for Nigeria’s volleyball technical team. Nigeria is working to strengthen its national teams for upcoming international events.

He pointed out that improving the coaching staff is important for the current board. They want to provide strong leadership for national athletes.

“This is a plus for Nigeria’s technical crew, as four coaches are now FIVB Level II certified,” Omisore said. “The knowledge acquired by these coaches will strengthen the technical department and assist Technical Adviser Ryan Masajedi in doing his job well.”

The federation mentioned that these new coaches will be key in preparing the senior men’s and women’s national teams for the upcoming 2027 African Games in Egypt. Nigeria is targeting podium finishes in both categories.
