Family, friends, and colleagues from the Nigerian movie industry came together in Arochukwu, Abia State, on Thursday to bury the late Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo.
The 40-year-old star died on May 11, 2026, after fighting metastatic kidney cancer.
Before the burial at their family house on Thursday, a funeral service and reception took place at the Mary Slessor School Field in Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu.
Videos from the funeral service showed the emotional moment when the actor’s casket arrived. This brought tears to many family members and close colleagues who traveled to the Southeast to say their last goodbyes.
The burial attracted many well-known figures from entertainment and business, including his close friend IK Ogbonna, Mike Godson, AY Makun, Ini Edo, Nancy Isime, Bimbo Ademoye, and businessman Obi Cubana.
After the open-air service, the procession moved back to the family house, where the actor will be buried today, as the family had announced.
Reports say that the funeral arrangements took over a week to plan, starting on June 10 in Lagos with a service of songs. During this service, many tributes came in from family, friends, and colleagues of the late actor.
