Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced his support for the Rainbow Coalition. He also endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term and picked Kingsley Chinda as his choice for governor in the state.

Fubara made this known on Wednesday. He spoke during the foundation-laying ceremony for the Rivien Medical Industry project in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

In a video shared on social media, the governor said he has returned to his political family. He urged his supporters to join the Rainbow Coalition, which is led by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

"We have made peace in the state. And I am supporting our rainbow party, or rainbow coalition," he said.

Fubara also declared his support for Tinubu’s second-term bid. He stated, "President Ahmed Bola Tinubu is our president, and he’s the one we are supporting."

He continued, "Oke Chinda is the governorship candidate that I am supporting. And anybody who believes in me will support every candidate that is under the rainbow."

He asked his loyalists to stop waiting for political positions or benefits before joining the coalition. Fubara said he has already reconciled with Wike’s political group.

"For those of you who are saying, ‘Fubara, let’s stay, we want to collect something before we run,’ there is nothing to collect."

He added, "I am already in the family. I’ve gone back to our family. So please, wherever you are, give your total support to that coalition."

Fubara emphasized the need to move forward and declared that the time for conflict is over.

"What you lose here, you’ll gain in another place. That is about life," he said.

The governor also warned supporters against using his name to back political activities outside the coalition.

"So please, I want this to be made clear to everybody. Don’t go anywhere and say you are supporting Fubara, Fubara. No, no, no."

He stressed, "My position is this, and I’ve said it here clearly for everyone to hear. If you are not hearing well, use cotton wool or open your ear and let it enter well."

Fubara made it clear that he does not want any disunity in Rivers State. He said, "I’ve done what I need to do. For now, we are moving forward."

Fubara’s comments come months after he pulled out from the All Progressives Congress’s primaries in May 2026. He cited deep reflection and consultations as reasons for his withdrawal.

This decision followed his public reconciliation with Wike after a long political crisis that divided Rivers State.

The Rainbow Coalition is a cross-party alliance that includes APC loyalists, factions of the Peoples Democratic Party, and other political groups that support Tinubu.
