Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed sorrow over the death of Chief Albert Horsfall. He was the former Director-General of the State Security Service and passed away recently.

In a statement he signed and shared with journalists through his media aide, Onwuka Nzeshi, Fubara remembered Horsfall as a true patriot and a man of discipline.

The governor said Horsfall was known for his quiet strength and intelligence. He served Nigeria with great dedication, professionalism, and integrity.

Fubara pointed out that Horsfall’s work in national security and peace has set a standard for future leaders.

The statement noted, "I received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Chief Albert K. Horsfall, former Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS) and a distinguished son of Rivers State. Chief Horsfall was a patriot, a disciplinarian, and an embodiment of quiet strength and intelligence. As DG SSS, he served Nigeria with utmost dedication, professionalism, and integrity. His contributions to national security and stability remain a benchmark for those who came after him.

"To Rivers State, he was more than a former DG. He was an elder statesman, a mentor to many, and a proud ambassador of our values of service, honour, and excellence. We have lost a patriot, a bridge-builder, and a man of integrity. On behalf of the Government and good people of Rivers State, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Horsfall family of Buguma, the security community, and all Nigerians who mourn this great loss.

"We pray that the Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and grants the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. May his legacy of service and patriotism continue to inspire us."
