Fulham secured a tough 1-0 win over Coventry City in the Premier League on Saturday. Oscar Bobb scored the winner in the 80th minute at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The Norwegian winger showed his skill to decide a tightly matched game. This win marked Fulham's second straight league victory under manager Álvaro Arbeloa. The result pushed Fulham up to 12th place, while Coventry stayed in 19th.
Both teams found it hard to create clear chances. But Bobb broke the deadlock ten minutes before the end. He received a pass from Joshua King and took on Coventry defenders Jay Dasilva and Jack Rudoni.
With quick footwork, Bobb beat both defenders and hit a low shot into the bottom-left corner. This was Bobb's first league goal of the season and it was key in a game that looked like it might end without any goals.
Fulham had more possession in the first half but they could not turn that into goals. Coventry, on the other hand, looked dangerous when they countered.
The home team had chances to go ahead. Brandon Thomas-Asante posed a threat twice in the first half. Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno had to stay sharp as Coventry pressed harder after the break.
In the 71st minute, Coventry nearly scored. A corner was headed down towards Ephron Mason-Clark, but Leno quickly came out to block the shot.
Fulham finally made their possession count when Bobb scored late in the game. They held on to their lead during the final minutes.
Coventry tried to find an equaliser. Matt Grimes shot wide after Leno punched away a free-kick. The home team also wanted a late penalty for a ball that went into the box, but their appeal was turned down.
Fulham managed to hold on for five minutes of added time to take all three points. This win helps them gain momentum after their previous victory over Hull City.
For Coventry manager Frank Lampard, this defeat added more pressure on his team as they struggle near the bottom of the Premier League table.
Fulham will aim to keep their winning streak going as they try to move further away from the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Coventry needs to find a way to respond and improve their tough start to the season.
