Fulham has agreed on personal terms with Super Eagles defender Chibuike Nwaiwu. They still need to convince Trabzonspor to allow the transfer. The Turkish club turned down two offers for the Nigerian player, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

The Premier League team wants to sign the 22-year-old on a contract lasting until 2030. But talks have hit a snag over Trabzonspor’s asking price. Fulham’s first bid of €20m was turned down. An improved offer of €28m, with €25m guaranteed and €3m in add-ons, also did not meet the Turkish club's expectations.

Trabzonspor is holding out for between €30m and €35m for the center-back. Nwaiwu has also attracted interest from Napoli and West Ham United. Although he was initially willing to stay in Turkey, he has told the club through his agents that he prefers to play in the Premier League.

Nwaiwu joined Trabzonspor from Austrian club Wolfsberger AC in January 2026. He quickly became a key player, making 21 appearances in all competitions. The 1.93m defender scored three goals, including the winner against league champions Galatasaray. He also helped the club win the Turkish Cup, which earned him three senior caps for Nigeria.

Trabzonspor is firm on their stance due to the chance of a record sale. They signed the defender for about €6m just months ago. If Fulham meets their asking price, it could become the biggest transfer in the club's history. Fulham is expected to come back with a better offer as they work to sign one of Nigeria's top young defenders.
