Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey felt the sting of defeat as Fulham lost 2-1 to Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Saturday. This loss means Fulham has now gone six matches without a win.
Fulham seemed ready to grab their first league win of the season when Ryan Sessegnon scored just 10 minutes into the second half. The left-back fired in a low shot from outside the box to give Álvaro Arbeloa’s team the lead.
But Ipswich wasn’t ready to give up. They rallied late in front of their home fans at Portman Road, putting pressure on Fulham.
Ipswich almost equalised when an unmarked Emersonn hit the post with a header. They also wanted a penalty after Daizen Maeda fell in the box from a challenge, but the referee waved play on.
The home side kept pushing for a goal. Their efforts paid off in the 88th minute when Abdoul Ouattara unleashed a powerful shot from 25 yards. The ball sailed past the Fulham goalkeeper, bringing the score to 1-1.
With the momentum on their side, Ipswich pressed for a winner. They completed their comeback in the 92nd minute. Captain Dara O’Shea jumped high to head in from a set-piece, sending the home crowd into wild celebrations.
This late collapse is a big blow for Fulham. They seemed on track to grab a much-needed win but conceded twice in the final moments.
Now, Fulham finds itself in the relegation zone, with only two points from six league matches. The pressure is on Arbeloa to find that first win as manager.
For Ipswich, this victory is their third of the season. It moves them up to ninth place in the Premier League table.
Fulham must quickly regroup and fix their defensive issues if they want to turn around their tough start to the season.
