Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has stirred up conversations on social media. She revealed that her latest hit movie, Behind The Scenes, made over ₦2.7 billion. This success followed months of hard work, sleepless nights, and total dedication to her craft.
This interview, which surfaced on X on Monday, has brought back discussions about the commitment needed to succeed in the film industry.
In a chat with Bella Naija just four days earlier, Akindele said the film's success was due to her hard work and personal sacrifices.
"So for me to get all these achievements, for the last movie to cross ₦2.7 billion, it was a lot of sleepless nights for me. A lot of sacrifice, giving my all. I forget to eat sometimes," she shared.
She explained that her dedication to work meant giving up her social life and comfort.
"When I say a lot of work, a lot of giving your all into work," she emphasized.
Looking back at her career, Akindele admitted she often ignored her own needs while chasing success.
"I abandoned myself for work. I don’t even make my hair, except I’m going on the red carpet or for something very important. I don’t attend parties. I don’t go to greet people at home. I put everything into work, research, writing, work. I’m neck deep into work," she said.
She mentioned that only recently has she started to take better care of herself.
"It’s just now that I’m relaxed, feeling fresh, doing the skincare routine, looking beautiful, smelling nice," she noted.
The video sparked mixed reactions from users on X. Many praised her discipline and dedication, while others pointed out the level of commitment needed to reach the top in the film industry.
Among those who reacted, #pamilhereen called her "a very focused woman," adding, "She’s so smart and intelligent."
Another user, #richyz_official, commented, "This what will called? Self determination."
