Nottingham Forest manager Oliver Glasner has said that Morgan Gibbs-White and Nikola Milenković might not play in Sunday’s Premier League match against Arsenal at the City Ground.
Both players could be back in action for the game. Milenković is back to training after missing weeks due to a hamstring problem and bone bruising. Gibbs-White is recovering from a minor muscle injury he got while playing against Crystal Palace.
But Nicolò Savona and Igor Jesus will not be available for this match, according to an update on Nottingham Forest’s official website shared on Friday.
Giving an update on his players, Glasner said Milenković had returned to training. The club will check how he responds before deciding if he can play against Arsenal.
"Savona will still miss the game, and Igor (Jesus) as well.
"Milenković trained for the first time today, so we will see how he reacts. He could be in the matchday squad, but let’s see because he has been out for several weeks.
"Morgan Gibbs-White is doubtful. He couldn’t train the entire week with us, but it looks like he can join tomorrow’s session, and he had an individual session today with our rehab coaches.
"He suffered a minor muscle injury at Palace, so we have to see how he reacts today and how he deals with tomorrow’s session. Then I will take the final decision," he added.
Glasner is hopeful that Gibbs-White will be fit for the match. He also talked about the injury issues that come with a long season and players returning from international games.
"In a long season, this is a situation that happens, especially when players are going away and playing for their countries for more than two weeks.
"It’s not to blame anybody; it’s just that every manager has a different style of training, which the body has to get used to, with a different load.
"It doesn’t seem too serious, so there is a chance he will be available," he concluded.
