Glenfiddich has launched a new 16-year-old limited-edition whisky created with the Aston Martin Formula One Team.
The whisky was presented at "A Night Beyond Expectations" at The Precision Hall on Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday.
The event gathered business and cultural leaders, celebrities, and top tastemakers. It also marked the Nigerian launch of BEYOND, Glenfiddich’s global campaign linked to its partnership with the Formula One team.
The company shared that the whisky was aged in five types of casks: first-fill bourbon barrels, Port casks, Fino Sherry casks, Oloroso Sherry casks, and wine casks.
This is the second 16-year-old whisky released through the partnership between Glenfiddich and the Aston Martin Formula One Team.
Glenfiddich explained that the partnership highlights similarities between whisky making and Formula One engineering, especially the focus on detail and lengthy development times both fields need.
The whisky was inspired by Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman and Aston Martin Formula One Team Managing Technical Partner Adrian Newey.
The first 16-year-old whisky from this partnership was launched in 2025, aged in American oak wine casks, new American oak casks, and second-fill bourbon barrels.
Glenfiddich and the Aston Martin Formula One Team announced their multi-year partnership back in November 2024.
The company did not reveal the price of the new whisky in Nigeria, the number of bottles available, or when it would hit retail stores.
The Lagos event showcased product exhibitions, whisky-tasting sessions, and displays on whisky production and Formula One engineering.
Guests enjoyed a runway-style entrance and fashion elements that matched the event’s “Sport Avant-Garde” dress code.
Glenfiddich noted that including Nigerian fashion and design was meant to adjust the international campaign for a local audience.
The Lagos event connected Glenfiddich’s global BEYOND concept with Nigeria’s creative scene, using fashion, music, design, and contemporary culture to explore heritage and modern expression.
Through this campaign, the brand aimed to link the precision of whisky-making and Formula One engineering with the creativity of Nigerian culture.
Nigerian creatives Nancy Isime, Swanky Jerry, and Ifeanyi Nwene contributed to the campaign, bringing insights from film, fashion, lifestyle, craft, and design to the Lagos experience.
The Lagos event is the first of two planned in Nigeria. The second event will take place in Abuja on 10 October and will focus more on whisky collecting and production.
