GLG Communications has released the fifth edition of its annual PR Power List. This list recognizes 50 public relations and strategic communications experts who have influenced organizations, industries, and public discussions in Nigeria and beyond.

The list came out on Thursday to celebrate World Public Relations Day 2026. It honors professionals in four categories: Rising Voices, Changemakers, Community Impact, and Fourth Estate.

The organizers said this year’s honorees were chosen through an independent review process. This involved thorough research and discussions by a jury of international communications experts.

Since the start of the PR Power List in 2022, it has become a major annual recognition for excellence in public relations, corporate communications, and reputation management in Nigeria. It highlights the work of professionals who often work behind the scenes but make a significant impact.

World Public Relations Day takes place every year on July 16. It acknowledges the role of public relations experts in promoting ethical communication, reputation management, and trust-building in government, business, and society.

Notable honorees

The 2026 PR Power List showcases top communications professionals across four categories. It highlights their roles in corporate communications, public relations, media, and social impact.

The Rising Voices category honors both new and established communications leaders who are influencing brand reputation and corporate stories.

Honorees in this category include Adeola Adejokun of FCMB Group, Anne Ezeh of Afreximbank, Femi Adeniran of Airtel Nigeria, Hakama Sidi-Ali of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayinka Ijabiyi of FirstBank Group, Omotola Oyebanjo of CIMMYT, Oyinade Adegite of GTCO Plc, Sylva Ifedigbo of IHS Towers, and Tosin Adefeko of AT3 Resources.

The Changemakers category celebrates professionals whose impact has shaped Nigeria’s public relations and corporate communications. Those recognized include Anthony Chiejina of Dangote Group, Emeka Oparah of Airtel Africa, Ike Neliaku, President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Ijeoma Balogun of Redrick Public Relations, Israel Jaiye Opayemi of Chain Reactions Africa, Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO of Sustainable Energy for All and UN Special Representative for Sustainable Energy, Victoria Uwadoka of Nestlé Nigeria, and Yushau Shuaib, founder of PRNigeria.

The Community Impact category honors people whose work has improved the communications field and led to meaningful social changes.

The late John Ajayi, founder of Marketing Edge, received a posthumous award. He was recognized alongside Joshua Ajayi of Brand Communicator, Peter Ukhurebor of Black at Cannes, Tolulope Olorundero of Mosron Communications, and Tomiwa Aladekomo, CEO of Big Cabal Media.

In the Fourth Estate category, media organizations ARISE TV, BusinessDay, and Nairametrics were honored for their roles in journalism, public education, and promoting informed national discussions.

Milestone

Speaking about the fifth anniversary of this initiative, Omawumi Ogbe, Managing Partner of GLG Communications and creator of the PR Power List, said the platform was designed to honor professionals who work quietly but have a significant influence across different sectors.

She mentioned that the recognition has become an important record of excellence in Nigeria’s communications field.

"Five years ago, we aimed to create a reliable platform that recognizes excellence in public relations and strategic communications. Today, the PR Power List has evolved beyond an annual list; it has become a record of the people shaping our profession and raising the standards of strategic communications in Nigeria," she said.

The organizers noted that this year’s PR Power List is part of events marking the global celebration, which includes the World PR Day Global Summit and the PR Power List Soirée and Awards. Here, the honorees will be celebrated with communication leaders from Nigeria and other nations.
