Gombe APC ward chairman and legal adviser leave for PDP

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Pantami Ward, Gombe Local Government Area of Gombe State, Bala Ngalda, and the party’s Legal Adviser in the ward, Babangida Gololo, have stepped down from their roles and switched to the Peoples Democratic Party.

This change happens as political shifts continue across Nigeria. Parties are meeting and adjusting as they prepare for future elections.

Ngalda and Gololo shared their resignations in separate letters dated July 27, 2027. The letters were addressed to the Secretary of the APC in Pantami Ward and were seen by PUNCH Online on Tuesday.

In his letter, Ngalda stated that he was resigning as Ward Chairman and leaving the APC immediately. He mentioned that he made this decision after talking with his family and asked the party to respect his choice.

Ngalda also thanked the APC leaders at local, state, and national levels for the chance to serve. He recognized the support he received from the Gombe State Government during his time in office. He said, "I wish to use this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to the Party at the Local Government, State, and National levels for the opportunity given to me to serve in this capacity. I am equally grateful to the Gombe State Government at large for the support and cooperation extended throughout my tenure."

He added, "Although I am stepping away from my position and membership, I will continue to hold the Party and its ideals in high regard, and I wish it continued growth and success going forward."

Gololo also announced his resignation as the party’s Legal Adviser in Pantami Ward, leaving the APC immediately. In his resignation letter, he said he made this choice after careful talks with his family.

He thanked the APC leaders at all levels and the Gombe State Government for the chance to serve and the support he received during his time. Even though he is leaving the party, Gololo said he will still respect the APC and hopes for its success in the future.

Neither resignation letter mentioned why they were leaving. Both former ward executives have now joined the Peoples Democratic Party.

Their move is likely to change the political scene in Pantami Ward, which is an important political area in Gombe Local Government. Political parties are working to strengthen their positions as they prepare for upcoming political activities in the state.

These recent defections add to a growing trend of political movements between parties in recent months. Stakeholders in several states are repositioning themselves for the next elections.

The APC and the PDP are both working hard at the grassroots level. They seek to strengthen their influence in key wards and local government areas across Nigeria.
