The Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum and Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, is deeply saddened by the death of elder statesman and Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti. He called his passing a huge loss to the Yoruba nation and to Nigeria as a whole.

Abiodun sent his condolences to Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Ondo State Governor Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and other notable Yoruba leaders. He also reached out to the family and friends of the deceased.

The governor highlighted that Pa Fasoranti recently celebrated his 100th birthday. He lived a remarkable life filled with service, love for his people, and a strong commitment to the progress of the Yoruba people and Nigeria.

Abiodun praised the late elder statesman as one of the strong voices in Nigeria’s fight for democracy. His bravery, beliefs, and sacrifices played a key role in shaping the country’s political journey.

The governor pointed out that Fasoranti’s involvement in the push for democracy, especially during military rule, made him one of the top defenders of democratic governance and constitutional rule in Nigeria.

He also noted that Fasoranti was dedicated to justice, fairness, good governance, and restructuring. His strong stance on national issues showed his commitment to building a united and thriving Nigeria.

Abiodun described Fasoranti as one of the last remaining links to a group of leaders who battled against authoritarian rule and fought for democratic rights. He stressed that Fasoranti's death leaves a big gap in the Yoruba socio-political scene.

The governor believes that the late Afenifere leader’s legacy will live on through the values he stood for, the causes he supported, and the many Nigerians inspired by his dedication to democracy and national growth.

He encouraged Afenifere, the people of Ondo State, the Yoruba nation, and the family of the deceased to find comfort in the incredible life he lived and the lasting impact he had on society.

Abiodun prayed that God would grant the departed elder statesman eternal peace. He also wished strength to his family, friends, and the entire Yoruba community as they cope with this loss.
