Governor Mbah Receives Award for Leadership

Enugu State Governor, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has been recognized once more for his leadership. Enugu Media Village presented him with an Award of Excellence for his dedication to leadership and governance.

During the same event, Jude Asogwa, the Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, won the 2025/2026 Enugu State Best Performing Local Government Chairman Award. Obiora Obeagu, the Isi-Uzo Council Chairman, placed second in the ranking.

The awards were given out at the 2025/2026 Best Performing Local Government Chairman Poll and Leadership Recognition Ceremony. This event took place at the International Conference Centre in Enugu.

Enugu State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Osinachi Nnajieze, accepted the award on behalf of Governor Mbah.

Nnanna Nze, the Board of Trustees Chairman of Enugu Media Village and former Chairman of Agwu Local Government Area, praised Governor Mbah. He called the governor's work a remarkable transformation of the state in just three years.

Nze pointed out that the governor’s efforts in important areas of the economy have earned praise from residents and stakeholders.

In his welcome speech, Osinachi Nnajieze described the organization as a media platform aimed at promoting good governance. He emphasized that Governor Mbah has shown how governance can change communities and improve lives.

“Governor Peter Mbah has shown us that governance is about changing communities and transforming systems. We are committed to supporting developmental governance by ensuring that information reaches the grassroots across all local government areas,” Nnajieze said.

As he received the award, Governor Mbah said the honor belongs to his team and the people of Enugu State for trusting him with their mandate.

He mentioned that the people have only seen a small part of what he plans to achieve. Mbah promised to continue working hard to deliver more benefits to the people.

Represented by Osinachi Nnajieze, Mbah said the people of Enugu State deserve the best. He insisted on excellence, innovation, and high performance from his administration.

One key highlight of the event was Jude Asogwa winning the Best Performing Local Government Chairman Award.

The poll included all 17 local government areas in the state. Nsukka Local Government Area won with 110,447 votes, followed by Isi Uzo, Uzo Uwani, Igbo Eze North, and Enugu South in that order.

In his acceptance speech, Asogwa dedicated the award to God, Governor Mbah, his family, and the people of Nsukka. He said the award shows his council’s commitment to developing all 52 communities in the LGA.

Asogwa also expressed Nsukka’s support for Governor Mbah’s re-election. He mentioned the governor’s investments in the area, which include 20 Smart Green Schools and 21 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, among others.

“Let me just tell us that the secret of our performance is Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. He is a leader that supports the local government council chairmen. He is a governor who does not tamper with the allocations of the LGAs. That is the secret of the results you are seeing. In addition, he has delivered 267 Smart Schools and 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres in the 260 wards.

“So, Nsukka is for Governor Peter Mbah. Also, we had earlier decided as a zone that come 2027, we will support and deliver not only the governor but also President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose administration has contributed to the growth and development of our people,” he said.

The event also included the presentation of Awards of Excellence to notable public office holders and leaders for their contributions to governance and public service. Among those awarded were Senator Osita Ngwu, Senator Ikeje Asogwa, Hon Chimaobi Sam Atu, Osinachi Nnajieze, and Chie Chukwudi Nnaji.
