The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has received praise for his ongoing investment in infrastructure, academic development, and support for Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) in Gadau.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Fatimah Tahir, highlighted the governor’s efforts. She said his commitment has created a good environment for the university's growth and academic progress.
Professor Tahir spoke after the National Universities Commission (NUC) approved 12 new academic programs for the university. She mentioned that the support from Governor Mohammed, who is the Visitor to the university, has been vital for the achievements of the institution so far.
The professor, who teaches microbiology, said the approval of the new programs shows the university's dedication to quality education. She stated that this development confirms the university's compliance with NUC standards and its commitment to improving higher education quality.
Praise for University Staff
The Vice Chancellor also commended the Governing Council, Senate, management, and both academic and non-academic staff. She acknowledged their hard work during the NUC resource assessment that led to the approval.
She promised current and future students, as well as other stakeholders, that the university would provide the necessary resources to effectively implement the new programs starting from the 2026/2027 academic year.
