Arsenal forward Kai Havertz has picked his goal in last season’s Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain as his best since joining the team, even though they lost the match.
Havertz shared this during an “Ask Me Anything” session on Arsenal’s official website. He remembered the emotions he felt after scoring in that final.
The German player opened the scoring with just the first shot of the match, scoring after only six minutes against PSG.
Even though Arsenal lost the final, Havertz said that moment was the best feeling he ever had on a football pitch.
“The Champions League final, even though we lost the game, I feel like I never had a feeling like this before in my life,” Havertz said.
“The emotional feeling after I scored the goal, after the celebration, the goosebumps, it was just incredible. In that minute, I think that was the best I’ve ever felt in my life on a football pitch, so I think that was my favourite one.”
Second Favourite Goal
Havertz also mentioned his goal against Burnley on the last day of last season as his second favourite goal for Arsenal.
He scored the winning goal against Burnley, helping Arsenal secure the Premier League title. It was the final goal of the season before the club celebrated winning the league.
“My second favourite is definitely the one against Burnley, when we won the Premier League, the last goal of the season before we won it. These two definitely are always going to be in my heart,” he said.
Havertz has kept up his good form in the new season, scoring in three of Arsenal’s first four competitive games.
He found the net against Manchester City in the Community Shield and also scored against Coventry City and Chelsea, putting him on the same level as captain Martin Odegaard as Arsenal’s leading scorer this season.
Havertz joined Arsenal from Chelsea in 2023 and has quickly become an important player in the club’s attack.
