Veteran Nollywood actress, Hilda Dokubo, has taken President Bola Tinubu to task over the rising insecurity in Nigeria. She is urging the Federal Government to feel the pain of the people and take real steps to protect them.

In a video she shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Dokubo voiced her anger about the struggles faced by everyday Nigerians, especially those affected by kidnappings and violent attacks.

In the video, the actress highlighted the difference between the security enjoyed by public officials and the harsh realities faced by ordinary citizens.

"You live a great life. You drive in armoured vehicles escorted on both sides by armed security men. Your office has an armoured door and long security queues before you can be seen," she said.

Dokubo pointed out that the heavy security around government officials has caused a gap between them and the suffering of everyday people.

"But not us ordinary Nigerians and so you don’t feel our pain, and that’s why you can distance yourself from our cry by citing the example of Abraham and Isaac," she said.

The actress was responding to comments made by the President about Nigeria's security issues. She insisted that communities affected by violence need real solutions, not just symbolic gestures.

She said farmers losing access to their lands due to insecurity need help from the government.

"The farmers who lose their farmlands daily do not need your distance. They need empathy and they need action. They need you to be able to protect the land. They need you to stop the insecurity that is plaguing their land," she explained.

Dokubo also spoke about the heartbreaking stories of schoolchildren who have been kidnapped. She questioned how the government can respond to such tragedies.

"The children who were tied up, did you see that child? The one tied up with stone, tied to his back, his legs and his hands tied together. How can that not move you, Mr President?" she asked.

The actress shared her worries about the fear parents feel as their children become targets for kidnappers and armed groups.

"May no parent go through this fear, this fear of knowing that they may be the ones to bury their children or worse, not even see the corpse of their children," she said.

Dokubo urged both leaders and citizens, who have gotten used to constant insecurity, to understand how serious the situation is.

"Let all those who say this insecurity has always been here know that one day it might be their turn," she warned.
