The House of Representatives will vote on a plan to set up state and local police in Nigeria. This is part of efforts to tackle the growing insecurity in the country.
Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker and head of the House Committee on Constitution Review, shared this news on Wednesday. He spoke to journalists right after the plenary session.
He mentioned that the House has chosen to focus on the state police proposal. This is more important than other constitutional amendment bills being discussed right now.
The bill to create state police is backed by the deputy speaker along with 14 other members of the House.
