Iheanacho makes history in Turkey with 10-game scoring run

Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, kept up his amazing scoring form in Turkey on Thursday night. He made history by scoring in a 10th straight match, helping Bursaspor to a solid 3-0 win over Muğlaspor at the Muğla Atatürk Stadyumu.

The former Manchester City player had another great game, scoring twice and assisting another goal as Bursaspor took all three points. This win also extended his impressive streak in the Turkish First League.

After a goalless first half, Iheanacho almost scored just three minutes after the break. He headed in the ball after a scramble in front of the goal, but his joy was short-lived as the goal was ruled offside.

Iheanacho finally got on the scoresheet in the 58th minute. He finished off a pass from Halil Akbunar, putting Bursaspor ahead and keeping his scoring streak alive.

This achievement has pushed him past the scoring records of two legends in Turkish football. He has now outdone Galatasaray’s Metin Oktay and former Turkey international Saffet Sancaklı.

Oktay scored in nine straight Süper Lig matches for Galatasaray back in the 1962, 63 season. Sancaklı matched that record with Kocaelispor in the 1995, 96 season.

Before Thursday's game, Iheanacho had already set a new Bursaspor record. He scored in nine straight matches, breaking Fernandao’s old record of eight, which was set during the 2014, 15 season.

The former Leicester City and Sevilla forward was not done after giving his team the lead. In the 73rd minute, he scored again, calmly finishing with his left foot from inside the box to make the score 2-0.

Hüseyin Maldar sealed the win in the 83rd minute by converting an assist from Iheanacho, completing a convincing 3-0 victory for Bursaspor.

This performance highlights Iheanacho’s impact since joining Bursaspor. With his latest goals, he now has 14 goals and three assists in just 10 games this season.

With his scoring run now at 10 consecutive matches, Iheanacho is not just helping Bursaspor but also setting new records in Turkish football. This gives the Super Eagles striker a boost as the season moves forward.
